smooth, solid, and easy to use
A friend recommended this iSteady smartphone gimbal, and it arrived just two days after I ordered it—I couldn’t wait to unbox it! The all-black design feels solid and premium in the hand. I mounted my phone on it, but the moment I let go, it flopped down—gave me quite a scare! Turns out I hadn’t powered it on yet and was basically treating it like a regular selfie stick. Once I pressed the power button, the phone smoothly rotated into position—so elegant! Big thumbs-up for that moment alone.I tested it by shooting a short video and intentionally added some shakes. To my surprise, the phone followed the movements effortlessly, keeping the footage perfectly stable and smooth. Amazing! I used to rely on a simple selfie stick, always afraid to move because any motion would make the video jittery. My phone’s built-in stabilization helped a little, but it was far from enough. With this iSteady gimbal, I can finally move freely when filming!It also has a center-lock feature—the button sits right under your index finger, and pressing it feels just like pulling a trigger. Once locked, the subject stays perfectly centered in the frame, which is great for circular or tracking shots. There’s also an orange dial under my thumb; after connecting via Bluetooth, you can zoom in and out just by rolling it. Super convenient! That completely solves the problem of shaky footage caused by touching the screen to zoom.Overall, it’s a thoughtfully designed and very practical product. There are still a few more features I haven’t explored yet—but that’ll be for next time!

The hohem iSteady X3 SE Gimbal is an incredibly well-designed and feature-rich stabilizer—perfect for travel, vlogging, or everyday content creation. I ended up returning this particular unit because the toggle switch was a little wonky and seemed slightly defective, but I genuinely believe I just received a rare dud. Everything else about this gimbal was impressive.The 3-axis stabilization is smooth and reliable, producing buttery footage even with quick movements or walking shots. I loved the lightweight, foldable design—it’s extremely portable and easy to toss in a bag for on-the-go use. The detachable remote is a brilliant touch and made filming solo much easier.Setup was simple, pairing with my iPhone was seamless, and the hohem app gives you even more control if you want to level up your shots. The battery life is solid, and I appreciated the build quality—it feels sturdy and durable, despite being compact.While I did return my unit due to the switch issue, I absolutely plan to repurchase because it checks all the boxes for a phone gimbal. If you’re a creator, traveler, or just want more polished mobile footage, this one is worth it.

Great Product but Quality Assurance wasn’t Assuring
I bought this gimbal because I have been getting into TikTok content creation, and thought the hand grip would help with fatigue.TLDR:Easy to use, app is not as bad as people say, very sturdy build, and it would have gotten five stars if the joystick on the remote was actually included. Had to buy a 2 pack from there website for $15.CONS:Let’s start with the one and only flaw I have found, and the reason I gave it 4 stars. in the picture you will notice that the joystick for the remote is missing. This didn’t fall off it simply wasn’t there. This gives me the impression that there quality assurance isn’t assuring.PROS:The battery life I actually very good, and that’s not even after charging. Right out of the box I was able to use it for a full two hours without it dying.The movements of the gimbal was very smooth; it balances almost instantly as you turn itThe grip feels nice in my hand and the fatigue I had from the past few weeks of filming was relieved finally with the ergonomic shape.The tripod and carrying case or a very nice addition as well, but I had better things to store it in and a larger tripod so they weren’t really needed. This means I can’t speak to there durability.The app was super easy to download and I am confused why it has such bad reviews. The video quality and AI tracking are actually extremely nice, and the people saying it was hard to figure out must not be able to read because it has an extensive tutorial right as you open it up. Not to mention the AI tracking and hand gestures explain themselves the moment you click the button to activate them. So, trust me… You don’t need to be a professional to use it, and you should ignore the “hard to use” reviews.In general this gimbal works better then I could have hoped for, and for the price it’s a no brainer. I would have given them five stars if I wasn’t forced to spend an extra $15 on joystick replacements. I would have asked for a replacement, but I needed it that day and a 2 pack replacement seemed like a good investment if the original wasn’t even included.

Fun, Easy, and Surprisingly Capable for a First Gimbal
As a total beginner, I wasn’t sure what to expect—but this gimbal blew me away right out of the box. Setup was simple: my phone (S24 Ultra) balanced easily, Bluetooth connected instantly, and the included remote made experimenting way more fun.The stabilization is excellent for casual video—my early tests with slow motion and object tracking turned out smoother than I expected. The companion app has a bunch of “one-click” creative modes, perfect for someone just starting out. I’ve already used it for some dorky selfies (no regrets), but I can absolutely see this being useful for future unboxing videos, haunted house scenes, restaurant reviews, and parades. The built-in tripod and selfie stick make it even more versatile.If you’re new to gimbals and want something affordable, functional, and honestly kind of fun to play with—this is a fantastic place to start.

Just received it so early days , not had a gimbal before so learning curve , seems ok so far , just getting used to controls , time will tell ,UPDATE ,Had this 3-4 days now and sadly it wont charge up , I have not let it run down as still experimenting in office , this is a shame as it feels so well built and handles well from what I have learnt ,I did notice a couple of reviews had same problem , but mostly good , maybe I got a lemon ,but puts you off replacement . Return imminent .

I am amazed at how good the gimbal is for steady video capture, including when walking and aking a video.I have not used the app however the functions within the gimbal and its bluetooth controller are excellent in themselves.One can rotate phone horizontal and vertical, can also flip phone around from facing you to facing 180 degrees the other way. All of these at the touc of various buttons.The phone holder is very, very strong. There’s a little tripod to screw into bottom og gimbal for handsfree recording.The plastc material in the gimbal is sturdy, it is a well made product. It is also light enough in weight that you don’t feel arm-ache.Play back of videos i have taken are smooth, where you DO NOT end up with a nauseating (to watch), bumpy, lag-effect video. In fact this gimbal gives you the opposite.A really,really good product. I highlt recommend.

My shaky hands could never capture as smooth video as this gimbal can.1. I wish it could do some attempt at star tracking for Astrophotography.2. I also wish it could support more weighty phones. I have to take my phone case off to use it properly.3. I’ve yet to run out of battery while using this gimbal, the battery life is seriously impressive.4. The way the gimbal folds to save space is seriously cool and smart. Although I do feel like it could be a potential failure point in the future. So far I’ll trust it to work fine for years to come. And it fits in the smallest pocket of my bag.5. The stability is really good. But I’ve encountered an issue when filming. Sometimes my gimbal will flip my phone 180° and the hinge will block my camera. I’ll attach a video below to demonstrate it.Overall I’m very happy with my purchase.

This iSteady X3 se seemed at first to be working properly, but unfortunately, I found that the pan-follow mode was not working as it should. In this mode, the phone should only move in the horizontal plane when the unit is panned horizontally. In fact, if the unit was tilted in the vertical plane, the phone also tilted, and – worse – did not tilt back again afterwards, and would therefore have to be recentred every time. This is not correct, so I am returning it.Maybe I will try the slightly more expensive X3, which also has the ability to do AI object-follow, and an extension shaft – which the X3 se does not have.
